UK Conservatory Planning Permission

Will I need plannning permission ??

In most cases planning permission will not be required, however in all cases you should check with the local planning authority.

The general guidelines are:

You will need planning permission if:-

  • Any part of the conservatory comes within 2 metres of your property boundary and is more than 4 metres high.
  • Your house is a listed building.
  • You live in a conservation area.
  • Your house has already been significantly extended and by adding the conservatory the total extended area exceeds 30 square metres.
  • If the conservatory is erected on the front of the property, no part of the conservatory should project further forward than the existing wall of the house facing onto a public highway.

If in any doubt, check with your local council planning department.
